Bugs List of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

advertisement

Nokia 5800 LCD
I thought of posting this article two days back when my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic was working. It's in Nokia Care now, so I will not be able to post images of those bugs that i am going to share with you here. As soon as I get my cell back, I will post images also.

I have opened a thread in Nokia discussion forum for the same. You can discuss there in case you face the same problems. Here is the the bugs list of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

  • LCD Problem: I have already discussed this in earlier post here.

  • ScrollBar in Application folder: It works with not many applications installed in your cell. Upon installing more applications, You are not able to scroll to the last icons. You have to touch screen to see those icons.

  • Small Fonts with Grid View: Change the font size to small and if your view is Grid, you will not be able to see the names of icons e.g. Gallery, File System, settings. Only small icons show and not the text below it. Works file with list view in case of small fonts. See the following image.

  • Small Fonts Nokia 5800
  • FLV Player: Open .flv file and while it's opening, press the screen to make it full screen and there you have a d-pad like the one when you play the flash games. It's so funny to see it here when you are playing a video. Take a rest and let the video open and then touch the screen to make it full screen. Funny :) Clear sign of poor performance.

  • Duplicate Thumbnails: Very strange and annoying problem. You have many duplicate thumbnails in gallery for the same image. Delete the one and all other thumbnails become dead forever. You can't do anything of those thumbnails in the Gallery. Neither you can open them, nor you can delete because it says General Error.
This is my personal list of problems. Some of these problems are being faced by my friend as well. There are other bugs as well faced by different Nokia 5800 owners. You can also provide me your problems with evident and I will post them here on this blog. This will be helpful for those who are planning to purchase Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

You can also join the discussion thread running at Nokia forum that I mentioned earlier in this post. We really need a decent firmware update from Nokia this time. The lastest one did not give anything good and noticeable.

    Hi Mak,

Better you take your mobile to Nokia Care. It's in warranty, they will fix the problem. You can't do anything on your own if there is any hardware problem. Your issue is hardware issue.

    Regards,
    Sunil

After Updation of firmware.... Songs which were already present in memory card are not working.i.e I am not able to play them. Please help.

    Sunil Kumar Gupta says

    Hi Gaurav,

You dont need to worry. Just go to Nokia care and they will transfer the .dr keys to your mobile for every preloaded song and then you can play those songs again. The preloaded songs are DRM protected, once you update the firmware, it delete those keys.. Nokia Care will restore those keys and everything will be fine after.

    Regards,
    Sunil

    Hi Sunil,
Can you tell me how were you playing .flv files?
AFAIK, you cant play it directly.

    Mobile Geek says

    Hi Urvish,

You can always play .FLV files directly using in-built player of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Flash support is there. You don't need any other player for that. Just transfer .FLV files to your mobile and play them.

why my 5800xm when have a call must unlock first then can answer???? if not unlock cannot answer even when i touch the screen???

    Mobile Geek says

    Hi Suhaimi,

You need not to just touch the screen. When you receive a call, You will see the answer animating from one direction to another. You need to slide your finger on screen in the same direction, then only you will be able to answer. You don't need to unlock first and then answer. Straight away answer the call by moving the finger on screen in the direction of animation.

    Hope that helps..

    Hi Kaarthik,

    Here are the steps-

    1. connect the phone using Mass Storage Mode
    2. go to Private > 101f8857 > Cache > E
    3. delete all the files
    4. disconnect safely (important because many people just remove the usb cable)
    5. problem solved...

Those clones will no longer be seen...all the images will be refreshed.
